Look, I have no idea what’s going to happen with the coalition in January but it is worth noting that it has already caused the Conservatives to climb down (though not entirely) from their stupid and useless economic update. That was what precipitated the whole thing, and so it is worth noting that the central goal of the coalition – that government take a more active role in handling the global economic downturn – is en route to being fulfilled.
A lot of Conservatives might like to call this episode in Canadian politics a failure for the Liberals or the NDP – but it only looks that way if your main goal is power. That alone says a lot.
